Tehran still has not refused intentions to buy Russian tanks T-90, but the transaction can take place only under condition of transfer of technology in the production, said the Deputy commander of land forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) General Kiomars heidari, transfer Agency Tasnim.
The General said, Iran is seeking to import advanced technology, and not just military equipment.
In December 2015 the commander of land forces of Iran General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan stated that Tehran will not purchase tanks T-90 in Russia. In February, Iranian defense Minister Hossein Dehghan explained the refusal by saying that his country had developed its own tank project “Karar”, which is not inferior to the Russian counterpart war machine.
“Tank at 100% was developed by the military-industrial complex of the country. Even if some indicators are not a better [T-90], at the same time, he is not worse than him,” said then Dehgan.
