Poroshenko asked the Prosecutor General of Ukraine to write a resignation

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko invited the head of the General Prosecutor of the country Victor Shokina to write a resignation. This is stated in the President’s letter, published on the website.

“This morning I met and had a detailed conversation with the attorney General. I turned to Viktor Nikolaevich that he wrote a resignation”, — said in a statement.

According to Poroshenko, Shokin has implemented the reforms that the Agency “resisted for decades”: deprivation Prosecutor General of oversight, the establishment of the National anti-corruption Bureau and the State Bureau of investigation.

“It’s only one side. On the other, the GPU, unfortunately, are unable to enlist the trust of society. And that’s why on the agenda is the question of the resignation of the Prosecutor General”, — said the President.
