Demand for flights to Russia for the forthcoming summer by foreign tourists has increased by 30%. This writes in Wednesday newspaper “Kommersant” with reference to the research service Momondo. The highest number of bookings currently account for travelers from Germany, USA, Denmark, Norway, Israel and the UK.
However, as noted in the study of foreign travellers choose not only the traditionally popular Moscow and St. Petersburg, and the Siberian cities — primarily located near lake Baikal Irkutsk. The popularity of this city has increased by 99.5 per cent. A sharp increase in popularity in Irkutsk Momondo is associated with nearby lake Baikal, a popular tourist destination.
In addition, increased the number of foreign travelers wanting to visit Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Kransodar, Sochi and Simferopol and Mineralnye Vody.
That foreign tourists increasingly choose Russian direction is confirmed by the data of service of Skyscanner. According to the system, the number of early bookings with departure to Russia from foreign countries in June of this year, 35% higher than last year. A growing number of foreign clients noticed and on the hotel market, the newspaper said.
According to the representative Momondo Irina Riabovol, the increased demand of foreign tourists to Russia due to devaluation of the national currency. Compared with pre-crisis values prices on flights to and from Russia increased somewhat, although not equivalent with the increase in exchange rates, she explains.
Another factor in the popularity of the Russian destinations for foreign tourists she calls psychological. “If at the beginning of the crisis (in late 2014) many foreigners are skeptical about traveling to Russia and even feared to come into the country, in 2015 the situation has caught up, the tourists started to look at Russian cities as new interesting and not too expensive places to travel”, — quotes the edition of its word.
