Suspicion of FAS

FAS checks 16 networks — in particular, “Euroset”, “Svyaznoy”, “Eldorado”, “Technosila”, re: Store, Beeline (owned by JSC “VimpelCom”), “MegaFon”, “Mobiland” (a network of “Know-How”), Ozon.ru and the official Apple store in Russia Apple Store. The Ministry is interested in the pricing of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
Verification has been initiated on the treatment of the individual. FAS has analyzed the prices of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus and came to the conclusion that these 16 networks, the cost of smartphones after the start of sales was either identical or differed in the range of 9 to RUB some of them the prices differed only during special events.

Antimonopolschiki believe that the retailers in setting prices acted dependent. Now the FAS requested digital networks information about purchase prices from suppliers, the cost of transportation to the regions in the formation of prices for the product and also the additional conditions on the resale of smartphones, including the volume of sales. According to Andrey Filimonov, if price fixing is proven, sellers can be fined in the amount of 1-15% of the total volume of sales of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus in 2015.
FAS is not the first time carries out such checks. So, in 2011, she checked the mobile operators MTS and “VimpelCom” (brand “Beeline”), suspecting them of price collusion in the sale of the iPhone 4. Then both were fined respectively 16 million and 18 million rubles.
Sellers refer to the market
The cost of the gadget up to the mark consists of the purchase price from the manufacturer, transport and other expenses of the company, explains the representative of “Euroset” Ulyana Smolskaya. According to her, each seller sets the final price “based on an assessment of the range of prices on the market, opportunities, customer demand and economic feasibility for the company”. This confirms the representative of “Coherent” Maria Zaikina: each retailer determines the product price, taking into account not only your costs and purchase price, but also by other factors, “primarily the market situation in each city and region of presence.”
If different sellers prices “look comparable”, it only demonstrates the optimum balance of supply and demand, where the buyer is already an interesting price for the goods and the seller is still profitable to sell, says Smolsky of “Euroset”. The price of one product may change several times a day “depending on the competitive environment,” she says. According to Zaikina from Svyaznoy, the price may vary up to several times a week under the influence of market factors, such as sales from a local competitor. In addition, the cost of the gadgets may vary in different regions, she says.
“MegaFon” has provided FAS “all requested information”, said company representative Yulia Dorokhina, without revealing details. About pricing from other players her company is unknown. Euroset periodically receives requests FAS on different commodity groups, Smolskaya said: according to her, this is “normal workflow”. In “the Messenger” has not received any requests about prices for iPhone 6S from the FAS, said Zaikina.
Representatives of “VimpelCom” and “Technosila” declined to comment. Representatives of other retailers have not yet responded to the request .
