The Central Bank has tied sharp fluctuations of the ruble with a vengeance banker for dismissal

The experts failed to detect intruders who benefited from hacking trading system of Kazan of Energobank, a credit institution cost nearly a quarter of a billion rubles, said first Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Sergey Shvetsov. According to him, the cause of a hacker attack could be someone’s desire to take revenge on the Bank.

“The beneficiary is not identified. That is, the loss of so many hundred million rubles was revealed that someone got that money. The attack was most likely revenge for the dismissal of one of employees”, — said Shvetsov at the fields VIII of the Ural forum “Information security of the financial sector” (quoted by RIA Novosti).

Earlier it was reported that hackers used to attack, triggered in February 2015 on the exchange of sharp fluctuations of the ruble, the virus called Corkow Trojan. In the attack the Bank placed in February 2015 orders more than $500 million at non-market rate.

Energobank claimed that his loss amounted to 244 million rubles at the account of these transactions. In a report released by Group-IB in the year after the events described, it was noted that caused by hackers volatility have earned regular customers of the exchange.

At the same time, the head of the investigations division and service of Cyberathlete Group-IB Dmitry Volkov said that the financial institution may recover their losses from those responsible for the infiltration of malicious software into the trading system. “However, these individuals still need to install,” he says.

The investigation into the attack leads the Ministry of internal Affairs of Tatarstan, initiated the Bank’s statement criminal case under article 272 of the criminal code (illegal access to computer information).
