Rostov Governor urged officials instead of expensive gifts to shake hands

ROSTOV-ON-DON, February 17. Rostov region Governor Vasily Golubev urged officials to live within their means, to renounce excess and luxury, and as gifts to give each other a handshake. He stated this at a meeting of the regional government.

“I 100% support you as leaders, as Ministers. But to live within our means. Not today, sorry, think of a posh car, new furniture, gilded greetings for some holidays. Best greetings, by the way – handshake could not be better. All the rest is easy: everywhere sent out and forgotten. But the Wake-up call or a handshake sometimes work more efficiently. Look at what car do you drive, where you work. Eliminate any unnecessary at this stage costs”, – said Golubev.

Golubev also noted that members of the government life was going well, and they have to think about those who need help.

“We’re all in chocolate, talking about us, sitting here in the hall. We eat well, we live well, we have heat, above us is not dripping, but we have to think about those who are bad. These extra money there should be. So we have to turn in the heads of a sense of today and to make so that at each point of the Rostov region people understand what representative government thinks so, and most importantly do so,” said the Governor, addressing the members of the regional government.

He noted the inadmissibility of corruption in government, noted the need to earn and wisely spend money. “Sometimes I wonder some applications at additional costs. Why ask the additional costs if there are outstanding obligations: unfinished objects, roads are poorly built, poorly made kindergartens”, – said Golubev.

However, he said that the area in 2014 and 2015 to fully fulfil their social obligations and has established certain conditions for the dynamics of the region.

Today’s meeting was devoted to results socially-economic development of the region for 2015 and goals for 2016. It was attended by almost all heads of cities and districts of the region, sectoral Ministers, deputies and heads of various departments.
