The Russian foreign Ministry: Moscow will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Syria


MOSCOW, February 17. Russia will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the affected during the long conflict with the Syrian population. This was stated in the Russian depodesta on the results of the meeting of special representative of Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov with a delegation of the coordination Committee of the Christians in the Levant headed by Syrian mother superior of St. James monastery mother Agnes Mariam al-Salib.

“They exchanged views on the development of the situation in and around Syria, said the Russian foreign Ministry. Special emphasis was placed on discussing the humanitarian situation and the situation of Christians”.

While on the Russian side, “confirmed the principled position in favor of a speedy political settlement of the Syrian crisis subject to the rights of all ethnic and religious groups”.

“The Russian Federation will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the affected in the protracted conflict to the Syrian people bilaterally and through the relevant international structures, including the international Committee of the red cross and the world food programme”, – stressed in the Ministry.

“In this effort is active participation of the Russian Orthodox Church, Spiritual administration of Muslims of Moscow and Central region, and the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian society and a number of other non-governmental organizations”, – noted in the Russian foreign Ministry.
