Russia and Ukraine may resume cargo autosabina

MOSCOW, February 20. Russia and Ukraine may resume road freight traffic through a joint boundary. Before this was told to journalists the Deputy Minister of transport of Russia Nikolay Asaul.

February 11, the Ukrainian radicals in the Transcarpathian region announced an indefinite protest by blocking the transit of Russian trucks. Later they were joined by radical activists in several other areas: Volyn, Rivne, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Sumy and Chernivtsi.

In response, on February 14, Russia suspended the Ukrainian movement of trucks through its territory. On 15 February, the Ukrainian government officially announced the suspension of transit cargo vehicles registered in Russia. From February 16 the Russian Federation has suspended the transit via its territory commercial vehicles registered in Ukraine.

Russian transport Ministry reported that the response action will continue until the settlement of the situation related to the blocking by the Ukrainian side of the Russian cargo vehicles.

The parties later entered the regime of “going home”, which included the ability for drivers to complete the flight, returning to the country of residence. However, the implementation of new flights cars with Russian registration Ukraine or across the border, and Vice versa, it was impossible.

According to assaul mode “going home” made it possible to complete the cars with Russian registration of their flights and return to the country of residence. Remained unresolved question of entry of new cars into the territory of Ukraine, and, accordingly, removal of similar restrictions for Ukrainian vehicles.

Asaul noted that the Russian side asked Ukraine to reverse its decision to suspend the movement of freight vehicles. “As soon as they’ll rescind (his decision – approx. ed.), we will remove your limitation,” said Asaul, noting that this can happen as early as February 20.
