Local elections in self-proclaimed Luhansk national Republic (LNR) moved from 21 February to 24 April 2016. This is stated in the decree of the head LNR Igor Carpentry, reports “RIA Novosti”.
“The election tomorrow is impossible even technically. Not prepared nor ballots, nor polling stations”, — told “Interfax” the representative of the Central election Commission LNR.
At the same time, the self-proclaimed head of the Donetsk national Republic (DND) Alexander Zakharchenko said on Saturday that local elections in DND can be held until next year. “Ukraine has changed, though enforced by the Constitution, postponed consideration to the next session — August, September. Then three months to prepare the elections, and it’s already December 31. No one on new year holds elections, that is elections for 2017. But Ukraine elections on our territory are not favorable,” — said Zakharchenko.
The holding of local elections in the breakaway republics is one of the conditions of the Minsk agreements. Initially, the authorities LNR and DND was planning to hold elections in the fall of 2015 that Kiev and Western mediators have violated the agreements.
In October, after the meeting “channel four” in Paris, the authorities of the republics agreed to postpone local elections in LNR — 21 February 2016, and DPR — 20 April 2016. The postponement of the elections in the breakaway republics of Donbass on the still later date at the end of October allowed the DNR and LNR during the meeting of the Committee of public support for the South-East of Ukraine in Moscow.
