The Syrian opposition agreed to a truce with the cessation of air strikes

The Syrian opposition has agreed to a two – or three-week ceasefire, if Russia will stop the airstrikes in Syria. This was reported by Reuters a source close to peace talks between Russia and the United States, held in Geneva.

He noted that the truce will be respected by all parties, however, will not address the “Islamic state” (ISIS, the organization banned in Russia). In addition, the agreement involves the end of the siege, release of prisoners and access for humanitarian aid throughout Syria.

Last Friday, 12 February, members of the International support group in Syria have reached an agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Syria. It was assumed that it will be implemented during the week and will not extend to the terrorist group “Islamic state” and “Nusra Front” (both activities prohibited in Russia).
