Novak called unfair to demand from Iran’s frozen oil

To demand from Iran to freeze oil production at the level of January soon after the lifting of sanctions unjust. About it Minister of energy Alexander Novak said on air of the program “Vesti on Saturday” channel “Rossiya24”.

“We understand Iran’s position, which only came out of the sanctions regime. Today, the increase in the production of Iranian oil does not seem fair to this country. Therefore, the situation we will discuss,” — said Novak. (quoted by “Interfax”).

Tuesday, February 16, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Venezuela has announced its willingness to freeze oil production at the January level. Countries expressed the hope that this measure will help to restrain the growth of surplus oil on the market and raise the price.

OPEC representatives later held talks with Iran and Iraq, hoping to convince them to join the agreement. According to sources Reuters, Iran has refused this measure for two reasons. First, in Tehran, considered that such measures are not enough at the moment. “Freeze on the part of those who extract the maximum, will not help the market”, – said the Agency interlocutor who is familiar with the position of the Iranian authorities.

The second interlocutor Reuters said that the idea of agreement should be discussed further, but when “countries that have increased production (mainly Saudi Arabia), will reduce it, and Iran will be released on desanctions level.”
