MOSCOW, February 25. All members of the crew of the Greek bulk-oil tanker Leon Dias, who was seized in late January in the Gulf of Guinea, released and are safe, including Russian. About this informed the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“According to the Embassy, all the crew members of the tanker Leon Dias, including the citizen of Russia Baklanov, released and are safe under the control of the ship owner company”, – she noted.
“Preparations for their departure from Nigeria, – informed the diplomat. – Our Embassy is not just watching, but actively involved in clarifying the fate of all Russians, who either were held hostage in this country, or have information on this subject.”
Oil tanker Leon Dias, the team which consisted of a Russian citizen, was seized by unidentified gunmen in late January. The Russian foreign Ministry recommended that Russian seafarers in employment to take into account the area of the Gulf of Guinea risks.
