Big hopes for a quick lifting of sanctions by the EU is not, believes Kosachev


MOSCOW, March 3. To expect a quick lifting of European Union sanctions against Russia is not worth it. About it on air of radio station “Vesti FM” said the head of the international Committee of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev.

“I would be glad to be wrong, but personally, I much hope that the sanctions policy will be revised now that the round, which will not suffer”, – he told, answering a question leading on the extension of sanctions by the EU.

He also noted that even those countries that “started asking questions”, is only saying that there is no automatic renewal that does not mean the lifting of sanctions at all.

Yesterday President Barack Obama extended in Russia for one year the sanctions imposed because of the events in Ukraine in 2014.

Only against Russia because of events in Ukraine launched three of the presidential decree of the USA – between 16 and 20 March 2014 and 19 December of the same year (in the Crimea).

These sanctions was raised a number of Russian citizens, including officials, and officials of the government of former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. In addition, these measures addressed a number of major Russian entrepreneurs, several companies and the leadership proclaimed the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics.
