Putin: Kyrgyzstan is a reliable partner, with whom Russia formed a strategic relationship

MOSCOW, March 2. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin believes that Russia and Kyrgyzstan have all the possibilities to diversify bilateral economic relations. “We will strive, as agreed, to diversify our relations, and for this, in my opinion, there is every reason,” said Putin at a meeting with President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev.

According to the President of the Russian Federation, Russia remains the main trade and economic partner for Kyrgyzstan. “Yes, we have seen in connection with certain events and, primarily, this is due to exchange rate fluctuations, a decrease in turnover, and, nevertheless, we stand firmly in first place with 27 percent, for us, I think, people’s Republic of China”, – said the head of state.

“After joining the Eurasian economic Union opportunities for collaboration increase. I hope that this will be reflected not only on performance but also on real life, on the development of our economies and the social sphere”, – said the President of the Russian Federation. He noted that Russia and Kyrgyzstan develop beneficial contacts. “Referring to the number of Kyrgyz citizens who live, work almost permanently in the Russian Federation,” he said.

In turn, Atambayev noticed that he was very glad to discuss with Russian President current issues between Russia and Kyrgyzstan. “Because we have not only major economic revolutions, but, first of all, we are strategic partners. I hope it always will be in the future,” he said.

From the Russian side the meeting was attended, including the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, Russian Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov, Minister of energy Alexander Novak and the head of the Federal customs service of Russia Andrei Belyaninov.
