MOSCOW, March 3. The Rosselkhoznadzor has every reason for banning the import of Turkish pepper in the Russian Federation. This was stated by the head of Department Sergey Dankvert.
“At present sufficient grounds for imposing ban on import of pepper from Turkey,” he said.
The head of the Rosselkhoznadzor stressed that the Ministry will hold talks with Turkey on March 11, however, the ban on import of pepper can be introduced before the negotiations. In addition, there is a question about a ban of import of Turkish lettuce and Chinese cabbage.
Previously Dankvert announced that Russia and Turkey will discuss the issue of the ban on imports of some Turkish fruit and vegetables in connection with the identification of a large number of disadvantaged in relation to phytosanitary products. Due to the fact that the country is getting warmer, to ensure that the quarantine status of imported to Russia products will be more difficult, he indicated.
The Agency in early February reported that Russia may introduce restrictions on the import of Turkish vegetables and fruits, had not been affected by economic sanctions, in connection with the identification of a large number of disadvantaged in relation to phytosanitary products. The supply of plant products can be closed by phytosanitary risk, noted in the Department.
The list of products is not voiced, however, the assistant head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Alexey Alekseenko reported that he “quite possibly” may include cabbage and pomegranates, which office winter 2016 repeatedly made complaints. But are we talking about any plant products that are not included in the sanctions list, if it does not meet safety standards, noted Alexeenko.
Russia from January 1, 2016 banned the import of certain foodstuffs from Turkey. In particular, Turkey will not be able to export strawberries, oranges, tangerines, grapes, apples, pears, apricots, peaches and nectarines, plums, strawberries, and strawberries. In restrictive list includes vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, cauliflower and broccoli, onion), as well as frozen parts of carcasses and offal of turkeys and chickens. Is prohibited by Turkish cloves and salt.
