The MICEX index reached a maximum since 2008

One of two main indices of the Moscow exchange, the rouble, the MICEX, rose to the highest in more than seven years, reaching the maximum level 1876,28 points, which is 0.95% above the closing level of the previous trading session. Reached today, the value of the index is the highest since 4 June 2008.

The most markedly increased in the share price of companies “Aeroflot”, “Rosneft”, LUKOIL, Polymetal.

Based on the dollar share price and the RTS index rose today by about 2.41 per cent and reached 817,8 item.

The price growth comes amid the ongoing for the fifth day rise in world oil prices. During today’s trading on the stock exchange ICE cost of a barrel of Brent rose to $37,83 — so-expensive Brent was not worth 4 January 2016.

By 18:40 the price of a barrel Brent crude on the ICE stock exchange was $37,69, the value of the MICEX index reached 1876,28 points, RTS index — 817,8 item.

Calculation of the MICEX index is made on the basis of 50 shares of Russian companies representing the key sectors of the economy, including Gazprom, LUKOIL, Sberbank, NOVATEK, Rosneft, Uralkali, MegaFon and so on. The MICEX index began on 22 September 1997 with 100 points, a minimum of historical values of the MICEX index was recorded on 5 October 1998 (18,53), historical maximum — 12 December 2007 (1970,46 points).
