Kiriyenko: the government of Bolivia will create a national atomic energy Agency


LA PAZ, 7 March. Bolivia took the decision to establish a national atomic energy Agency. About it told journalists the head of “Rosatom” Sergey Kiriyenko.

“You heard that he (the President of Bolivia – ed.), speaking said, in this environment the government adopted a decision to establish a national Agency, because the difficulty is that in Bolivia don’t have the control that needs to be our partner for the construction of this centre (Centre of nuclear research and technology – approx.), he said. – Until the agreement was signed by the energy Minister, but the President of Bolivia decided that a special Agency in Bolivia. Wednesday should be the government’s decision on its creation and on the first day – tomorrow – the documents are sent to the Parliament”.

According to Kirienko, the deadline for consideration in Parliament may be one or two months.

“But the President gave the team that was the most accelerated period of review, have promised that it will take no more than two weeks”, – concluded the head of “Rosatom”.

Russia and Bolivia on Sunday, 6 March, signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes, and on cooperation in the construction of the nuclear research and technology on the court in the city of El Alto at a height of 4100 meters above sea level.
