Poroshenko officially declared his readiness to exchange Savchenko

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko officially declared his readiness to exchange the Ukrainian officer and people’s Deputy of Ukraine Nadezhda Savchenko. The Ukrainian President made this statement during a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Erdogan in Ankara.

“If the question is, am I ready to make a decision about the exchange with someone, I note today for the first time: Yes. I, as President of Ukraine, ready to use my constitutional right and to exchange Hope, to make every effort to quickly return home”, — quotes “Interfax” Poroshenko.

However, he said that “for almost two years never from sources that you trust, any proposal to exchange Savchenko has been received.” The President himself is not named, whom he is ready to offer the Russian side in exchange for the pilot.

This is also stated in the messages in the official Twitter of the President of Ukraine, and the posts on this subject, published both in Ukrainian and in English.

In addition, the President has called on world leaders to assist in the liberation Savchenko. “I urge world leaders to put pressure on Russia to release Savchenko. If you need to extend sanctions — this has to be done,” reads one message on Twitter the President of Ukraine.

Previously Savchenko herself strongly opposed to sharing any of the Russians. “I don’t wanna wait no swapping, if you change the guilty innocent,’ she said during the trial. — I am an innocent man, no exchanges, no trades, no time delay”.

Nadiya Savchenko, the trial of which takes place in Donetsk, the Rostov region, on March 3 announced a hunger strike after the court granted her the last word and adjourned the meetings until 9 March. On this day, Savchenko gave his last word of the defendant, and did it bluntly. “Maidan in Russia! I want to show by example that in Russia the totalitarian regime can be twisted like a RAM’s horn,” — said Savchenko, climbed up on the bench and showed the court the middle finger.

“The court now has one week to make a determination. Want to show your power, show, but remember that we play in my life. The stakes are high, and I have nothing to lose,” said Savchenko. The court decided that the sentence Savchenko will be announced on March 21-22.

Earlier Kiev said that Ukrainian doctors will be able to examine Savchenko. After her speech with the last word the Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin, why visit doctors became impossible. “The defiance of Hope Savchenko in the course held on the same day of the hearing and her insulting remarks against the court changed the situation, making impossible the exercise of such a visit,” said the Russian foreign Ministry.

Nadezhda Savchenko is accused at once under several articles. The investigation finds her guilty in the deaths of two journalists VGTRK — Igor Anton Voloshin and Igor Kornelyuk. In addition, she is accused of illegally crossing the border. The prosecution asked the court to sentence her to 23 years in prison. According to Savchenko, the Ukrainian territory it has left, not willingly, but was abducted. Her defense argued that at the time of death of journalists pilot for about an hour and a half was in captivity of the militia self-proclaimed LNR.
