The Polish defence Minister has called the plane crash near Smolensk terrorist attack

The Polish defence Minister Anthony Macierewicz called “a terrorist act” the plane crash near Smolensk in April 2010 that killed President Lech Kaczynski, reports the Russian service “Bi-bi-si”.

According to Mazarevica, this action was intended to deprive Poland of people who “led the country to independence”.

“There is no doubt that what happened at Smolensk, was aimed at the deprivation of Poland’s leadership that led our country to independence”, — quotes the words of Mazarevica Reuters. The Agency adds that the statements of the Polish Minister were made during his speech at the conference dedicated to solving the problems of armed conflict and terrorism.

“After Smolensk [crash], we can say that we were <…> the first great victim of terrorism in modern conflict that is played out right before our eyes,” he added.

Reuters notes that the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia refused to quickly comment on the statement of the Polish Minister of defense.

Earlier this year the authorities of Poland declared readiness to resume the investigation of the crash near Smolensk. Earlier official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, commenting on Poland’s intention to re-investigate the crash of the Polish plane said: “I hope this isn’t about politics. This hope is weak, but she remains.”

The Tu-154, which flew the President of Poland Lech Kaczynski, his wife, representatives of the high command and political parties, crashed on 10 April 2010 near Smolensk. Killing 96 people. In the report of the Interstate aviation Committee says that the cause of the crash of the presidential Tu-154 became the incorrect actions of the crew.
