LDPR proposes to criminalize the political activities of Gorbachev and Yeltsin

MOSCOW, March 15. The LDPR faction has submitted to the state Duma a draft statement “On the recognition of political activities of the President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev and the first President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin’s criminal.” Information about this was posted Friday in the electronic database of the lower house.

In the text of the resolution that is available, it is proposed to assess at the state level the results of the Board of Mikhail Gorbachev and Boris Yeltsin, declaring them “criminal and destructive”. “The collapse of the USSR, international conflicts and numerous armed conflicts, the growth of morbidity rates, mortality rates, alcohol and drug – dependent people, a catastrophic drop in living standards of millions of citizens in the 90s of the last century – all this did not happen by chance”, say the liberal Democrats.

In their opinion, the country experienced a severe crisis in its history. “This was the result of conflicting and inconsistent decisions and actions taken and implemented by the country’s leaders – first Mikhail Gorbachev and then Boris N. Yeltsin”, – stated in the text.

Thus, according to the project, “the negative policy of “perestroika” and “Yeltsin’s reforms” have worsened as the situation in the country and the situation of our country in the international arena”.

For the adoption of the draft statement, it is necessary 226 votes of the 450 deputies of the state Duma. In the LDPR faction, there are 56 deputies.
