Pushkov: calls Russophobes of the European Parliament for new sanctions absurd

Previously, a number of MEPs called on Federica Mogherini to enter personal sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin and a further 28 persons in connection with the case of Nadiya Savchenko. Also, in their opinion, sanctions should include a ban on issuing European visas, freezing of assets and confiscation of all property on the territory of the European Union.

MOSCOW, 12 Mar. Russophobic wing of the European Parliament called to impose personal sanctions against President Vladimir Putin and another 28 persons, not to take nonsense, said the head of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei Pushkov.

“Russophobic wing of the European Parliament of the absurd does not hold. Interestingly, this call until no reaction at all, neither in the EU nor in the serious European press. Not to mention the fact that the decision to personal sanctions can be taken only by consensus of all heads of EU countries and to assume that all heads of countries of the European Union so has lost common sense, that will give the go-ahead on sanctions against Vladimir Putin, agree, absolutely impossible,” Pushkov said in the program “PostScript” on TVC channel.

Earlier it became known that deputies of the European Parliament urged the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini to enter personal sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin and a further 28 persons in connection with the case of Nadiya Savchenko. This list includes the head of the FSB of Russia Alexander Bortnikov, the head of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei Pushkov, the head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, the self-proclaimed leader of the Luhansk national Republic Igor Carpentry, as well as a number of investigators, judges and other persons.

A letter signed by 57 members of Parliament and posted on Twitter by Polish MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, lists of those who, in the opinion of the MEPs, “responsible for political decision about the kidnapping Savchenko, transport it on the territory of Russia, its illegal detention and filing of trumped-up charges”. Politicians believe that sanctions should include a ban on issuing European visas, freezing of assets and confiscation of all property on the territory of the European Union.

Nadezhda Savchenko is accused of involvement in the death of journalists of VGTRK of Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin. According to investigators, in the summer of 2014 she was at the disposal of the battalion “Aidar” and led the adjustment of fire by the Ukrainian troops in the Luhansk region, it indicated the coordinates for the shot, which killed the Russians. After that she without documents under the guise of refugees crossed the border of Russia. However, at verification of documents it was detained for identification, the investigators say.
