The Bank of Russia intends to oblige all insurance companies from 1 January 2017 to sell the insurance policies via the Internet. This is stated in the message on the website of the Central Bank. Now the insurers have the right but not the obligation to sell e CTP. Of the 81 companies having a license for compulsory insurance of civil liability, only 15 provide their customers with this service.
“The initiative of the Bank of Russia are aimed primarily at improving the availability and quality of services CTP, because the owners can purchase a policy at any time, anywhere without any relation to the location of the seller”, is given in the message words of the Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Vladimir Chistyuhin.

The Central Bank intends to develop a bill that would oblige all insurers to sell electronic policies. In the document, the regulator intends to set the requirement for insurers and Russian Association of motor insurers to ensure continuous operation of all information systems required for sales of electronic policies.
