Ukraine has expressed protest against the visit of Putin to Crimea


The Ukrainian foreign Ministry has expressed “strong protest” over the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin and other Russian officials in Crimea on Friday. This is stated in the message published on the website of the Ukrainian foreign Ministry.

In Kiev believe that “the attempt to celebrate the anniversary of Russian aggression against Ukraine” and “treacherous” capture of the Crimea “looks cynical against the background of serious economic, social and humanitarian problems on the Peninsula.” In particular, according to the foreign Ministry of Ukraine, in Crimea violate human rights, freedom of expression, media and religion.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday to celebrate the second anniversary of the occurrence of Crimea in structure of Russia — came to the island of Tuzla, which built the bridge across the Kerch Strait.

Trip to the Peninsula the head of state first inspected the construction site from a helicopter. After that, he held a meeting on socio-economic development of Crimea and Sevastopol.

This year, like last, March 18, were celebrating the joining of Crimea in structure of Russia. On Vasilevsky descent in Moscow, in particular, held a rally-concert dedicated to this event, similar events were planned across the country, as well as in the self-proclaimed DND.

Two years ago on the referendum in Crimea, the overwhelming majority of participants voted for joining the Peninsula to Russia. Two days later signed a Treaty on admitting Crimea and Sevastopol to Russia as subjects. The authorities of Ukraine and Western countries believe this step is “annexation”, the US and EU in response to it have imposed sanctions.

In Moscow, however, called the question of the Peninsula, closed in February, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said: “This issue is closed forever. Crimea is part of Russian territory.”
