Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad said that the political and military support to Syria’s friendly countries, particularly Russia and Iran, contributed to strengthening the steadfastness of the Syrians in the war against terrorism. Such a statement Assad made at the meeting with the Director of the strategic Council for foreign relations of Iran, Kamal Kharrazi, said the Agency Sana.
According to the Syrian President, the support of these countries also helped to “restore security and create favourable conditions so that they [the Syrians] could decide the future of their country”.
Assad also stressed that “the imperialist West and its agents impose their will, which is contrary to the interests of the peoples of the region who aspire to the sovereignty and right to self-determination”, the Agency said.
It is noted that the main topics of discussion at the talks Assad and Kharrazi were the agreement on a ceasefire in Syria, the extension of reconciliation to the several districts and the inter-Syrian negotiations in Geneva.
