X5 Retail Group has reported a record increase in annual revenue

The total revenue of a retailer X5 Retail Group by the end of 2015 amounted to 808,818 bn, 27.6% over the previous year. Compared with the 2014 X5’s revenue grew by 174,945 billion rubles, which is an absolute record for all history of the company, the report notes X5, prepared in accordance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS).

This sharp increase in revenue in the company explained primarily by a significant increase in retail space. By the end of 2015 the total number of stores controlled by X5 retail networks (“Pyaterochka”, “Perekrestok”, “Karusel”, “Express Retail”) exceeded 7 thousand (7020), 1537 shops more than a year earlier. Total trading area grew at 29.6 per cent, or nearly 761 thousand square meters.

The greatest growth was shown by “roundabout”. During the year the number of chain stores increased by 1476 pieces, and their area — on 668 thousand square meters In the X5 report notes that this result is an absolute record not only for the company but for the entire market of food retail in Russia. As a result, the revenue in annual terms increased by 34.6%.

The number of cities in which the stores of X5, for the year increased by 25%, however, beyond the Urals the company’s presence is still limited. The limit of penetration of the X5 to the East of the country remains Western Siberia, where by the end of 2015 was opened 59 stores, including 49 under the brand “Pyaterochka”. More than half of all X5 stores are now working in Central and North-Western regions of the country.

In the X5 report highlights that growth rates were also registered in the “old” stores of the company. Excluding new outlets, the company’s revenues for 2015 increased by 13.7%, including a network “the roundabout” — by 16.7%. The number of buyers in the “old” X5 stores for the year increased by 2.3%, while a year earlier the increase was only about 0.6%.

The main driver of growth once again became a “roundabout” (the number of customers in the “old” stores increased by 3.6%), while traffic to the stores “Crossroads” has decreased slightly (minus 4.6%). The amount of the average check in “carousel” in 2015, increased by 11%, in the “Crossroads” — by 11.2%, in “Carousel” — by 6.7%, in the “Express” — by 6.1%.

Net profit X5 Retail Group by the end of 2015 amounted to 14,174 billion rubles, which is 11.7% higher than in 2014.
