Aliyev called for the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev had promised that Azerbaijan will continue efforts for a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, but its resolution, he said, should occur “on the basis of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”, RIA Novosti reported. About Aliyev said during his speech at the nuclear security Summit in the United States.

“Unfortunately, Armenia has constantly put forward the conditions for the liberation of the occupied territories. We will continue efforts for a peaceful settlement of the conflict. But the conflict must be resolved on the basis of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan,” Aliyev said.

Aliyev reminded that the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions in connection with the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. “But these resolutions have remained on paper. Again, these resolutions demand an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from our territory. However, the occupation of our land continues more than 20 years”, — said the President of Azerbaijan.
