Acting head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov is planning to visit Syria at the invitation of President Bashar al-Assad. He said this in an interview to “RIA Novosti”. “Twice invited the President [Bashar] Assad… to visit. Just there time to go… I have to go,” — said Kadyrov.
On specifying question, whether that will occur before the September elections of the head of Chechnya, Kadyrov said: “While I perform the duties that the licence is not taken away”. According to him, he once had visited in Damascus, but before the war.
Previously Kadyrov said “RIA Novosti” that the majority of natives of Chechnya, who fought in Syria on the side of banned in Russia organization “Islamic state”, killed only about 200 people.
“Right now we have information that the majority of Chechens died there. Because the Arabs who are fighting there, and others put forward the “meat” of the Chechens: you practice, you experience on, the Chechen war, — said Kadyrov. About 200 of our fellow Chechens remained in Syria. They came from Europe. There is a bandit group of 20 people, 30 people”.
Prior to this, Kadyrov has repeatedly stated that in Syria are the Chechens who are fighting on the side of ISIS, but also against the Islamists. At the end of October 2015, he said fighting in Syria 4 thousand immigrants from the Soviet Union. And 4 December 2015, spoke about operating in Syria the group to neutralize the militants.
On 25 March the President of Russia Vladimir Putin announced the appointment of Kadyrov acting President of Chechnya before the elections in September. The powers of the head of Chechnya was to expire on 5 April. The head of state expressed hope that in the September elections “the Chechen people will be able to evaluate” what he did for the Republic Kadyrov. He thanked Putin for the trust.
