The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine did not see crime on the part of President Petro Poroshenko, who was involved in the offshore scandal. About it on air of “112 Ukraine” was declared by the Prosecutor of the Supervisory authority Vladislav Kutsenko. On the eve of investigative journalists published documents on the withdrawal of confectionary business, Poroshenko in an offshore company in the British virgin Islands.
“I declare officially that a preliminary study of information spread by some media about the violation of legality by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the GPU in those statements and information no corpus delicti does not see”, — said Kutsenko.
Meanwhile, the Prosecutor on behalf of the Ministry has addressed to deputies and members of the public with a request “not to pull the GPU to the policy and to act in accordance with the laws, with the Constitution”. Kutsenko explained that according to the Basic law of the land, any investigation related to the President of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General not under investigation.
“There is a law, a Constitution, article 111, which determines the order of investigation against the President of Ukraine and at any stage of the investigation, the prosecution authorities are being brought in,” said the Prosecutor.
Kutsenko also was asked about the issue of investigation against the head of the national Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva, whose name was also mentioned in the investigation of the International consortium of investigative journalists (ICIJ). The Prosecutor noted that this should be done by representatives of the National anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine: “They have the right to start criminal proceedings and of course the representatives of anticorruption Prosecutor’s office will oversee this production.”
Before it became known that ICIJ found documents on the withdrawal of confectionary business, Poroshenko in an offshore company in the British virgin Islands (BVI), the declarations of the head of state, the company was not provided. The company Prime Asset Partners Ltd, according to the published documents, was registered in 2014 in the BVI. It became a holding company for Ukrainian and Cyprus entities of Corporation “Roshen”, as the head of state himself is its sole owner.
