The son of a friend Yakunin was the largest contractor of the Russian Railways

Alexey Krapivin, Krapivin’s son Andrew, an old friend of Vladimir Yakunin, controls the company by “bamstroymekhanizatsia”, follows from published on the eve of the documents of the Centre for investigation of corruption and organized crime (OCCRP). The details are described in “Novaya Gazeta”.

The analysis shows that the PAO by “bamstroymekhanizatsia” and its associated management company by “bamstroymekhanizatsia” received a total 177,3 billion rubles from 301,3 billion rubles, up for grabs in tenders for the modernization of BAM and Transsib in 2014 (all amounts including VAT).

Long PAO by “bamstroymekhanizatsia” belonged to its founder Vasily Tarasenko. However, in may 2014, shortly before the Russian Railways tenders, the company changed hands. The new owner was Sterema Cyprus Limited, in turn owned by Evling Business Inc. with the British virgin Islands. The ultimate owner is unknown, but, according to “Novaya Gazeta”, citing data from OCCRP, the company Evling Business Inc. received to buy a loan $100,5 million from Panamanian Gordox Corp., controlled by Alexey Krapivin.

Earlier, the mayor of Tynda Eugene Cuttings in a conversation connected with new owner “of Bamstroymekhanizatsia” (the company is based in Tynda) to OJSC “Russian Railways”. “Bamstroymekhanizatsia is now within the Railways, so to speak. Not as structure, but something close. It was one of the conditions of the competition [for the modernization of the BAM and TRANS-Siberian railway],” said the official.

Father Alexei Krapivin Andrew died in 2015 in Switzerland. In 2007, then-President of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin recommended it to the Board of Directors of First cargo company (“daughter” RZD at the time), calling his old friend. Some time Krapivin was included in the Board of Directors of Transmashholding, a major supplier of Russian Railways.

Alexey Krapivin together with partners owns United construction company 1520, another major contractor on the TRANS-Siberian railway and the Baikal-Amur mainline, which won the tender for strengthening of power supply lines, and 27.9 billion rubles.

In addition, writes “Novaya Gazeta”, Alexey Krapivin may relate to the supply needle equipment for Railways. The state company buys it from the international Corporation “Bombardier”, but, according to the documents, the money for the delivery of pass through Rambo Management Inc., registered in the British virgin Islands and allegedly controlled by Krapivin, Jr.
