One of the largest sellers of clothing is a Swedish holding company Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) looking for a room in Moscow for store COS, told the representatives of three international consulting companies in the real estate industry. That COS selects a room in the Russian capital, know also two consultants from the fashion industry.
The room has not yet been selected, according to sources , the company is considering options, including in shopping malls. According to one of the consultants from the end of 2015, the Swedes are choosing a site for a flagship store with an area of 400-500 sq. m on Petrovka street, Stoleshnikov pereulok or at the Kuznetsk bridge. Rents on these streets now range from 50 thousand to 150 thousand rbl. for sq. m a year, says the head of street retail at Knight Frank Victoria kamlyuk. “Now, however, in these streets, there are no offers of 500 square metres,’ she says. — Any proposal that appears to be unique”. According to another consultant, the company shall treat the premises with the area of 700-1000 sq. m.
Acting Director of communications “H&M Russia” Yulia Bulgakova did not answer the question COS on the Russian market. “We are always closely watching the situation on the market and monitor opportunities for development, as presented in the Russian brands, and not yet introduced onto the market. Unfortunately, at the moment we have no news that we could share,” she wrote.
Regional Director of Department of trading real estate of Colliers International in Russia, Anna nikandrova notes that the last output wave popular brands of mid-price segment occurred during the second half of 2014: at this time the Moscow market went Maje, Sandro, TwinSet and other brands. The main “entry points” for them have become the shopping center “metropolis”, “Afimoll”, “seasons”, “Vegas Crocus city”. “Now, world fashion brands almost do not show interest to the Russian market”, — said Nikandrov.
H&M is developing a chain of stores-COS (stands for Collection of style) since 2007. The brand offers women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and shoes in the middle price segment. At the end of December 2015 COS network consisted of 153 stores in 30 countries. The last point of the network was opened in Bahrain (franchise), Monaco, Canada and Hungary.
As of December 2015 Hennes & Mauritz AB ruled collectively 3924 shops under the brands of H&M, COS, & Other Stories, Cheap Monday, Monki, and others, reported in company reporting. The main owner of the company — the family of the Swedish billionaire Stefan Persson. Revenue of the company in 2015 amounted to 210 billion Swedish crowns ($25 billion). Last year the company’s sales in Russia reached 3.5 billion Swedish kronor (approximately $415 million). Its first store in Russia H&M opened in 2009, at the end of November 2015 ran 96 Russian H&M and Monki (last year launched 25 new stores).
In mid-December of 2015 found out that the Swedish retailer has rented from the State oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ), which owns the complex “Gallery Actor”, 5.8 thousand sq m, that is, all the trading part of the complex for 32 years. After the reconstruction of “Gallery Actor” group H&M will open his flagship store.
