The Kremlin said that Obama’s main mistake as President

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the words of U.S. President Barack Obama has said that its main mistake is ill-conceived plan for the development of Libya after the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi.

In response to a request of journalists to comment on, Peskov said that the operation of the U.S. and its allies in Libya led to the actual destruction of that state, reports “Interfax”.

“I would like to refer to the words of the President [Vladimir Putin] who has repeatedly expressed regret for the consequences of those steps taken in Libya: you are also referring to the military operation and the destruction of Gaddafi. We see that now, unfortunately, Libya is a failed state”, — said Peskov.

He recalled that Putin “has repeatedly expressed regret at the fact that this [situation in Libya] is a direct consequence of the actions of a number of countries.”

Yesterday Fox News broadcast Obama said that he considered a mistake of his presidency “no plan for what to do the next day after the overthrow of Gaddafi.” At the same time, he stressed that he considers the U.S. intervention in Libya.

The U.S. and European allies intervened in Libya, engulfed in civil war, in March 2011. This happened after the adoption of the UN resolution, which stated about the creation of a no-fly zone over the country. Later, NATO forces attacked army positions and helped the opponents of Gaddafi to win. His overthrow to restore peace in Libya has not led, now there are several factions controlling different areas.
