The Kremlin has explained the exception Gryzlov from the composition of the security Council

In the Kremlin explained the reason for the exception of Boris Gryzlov of the number of permanent members of the security Council. According to the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, now Gryzlov “focuses on Ukrainian Affairs”, the correspondent .

“Now the scope of his employment is SPECIALIZIROVANNOE narrow focus. Before, say, he had a wider range of duties, and this implied the need for its constant participation in meetings”, — said Peskov. He also commented on the inclusion in the composition of the security Council commander-in-chief of the National guard Viktor Zolotov. Sands explained that he takes part in an expanded meeting of the security Council, however, will not be a participant of weekly operational meetings.

On Tuesday it became known that Vladimir Putin Gryzlov was expelled from the security Council.

That Gryzlov was excluded from the composition of the security Council in connection with the extension of the powers associated with the implementation of the Minsk agreements, Peskov was reported to the Agency TASS, Interfax and RIA Novosti citing a source in the security Council.

“The President made the decision based on the tasks that he sets before Boris Gryzlov. Among these tasks is the expansion of opportunities for international dialogue to resolve the situation in Ukraine”, — said the source Agency. He added that this will require Gryzlov participation “in the work of the various international venues in European capitals — Paris, Berlin and others.”

Decree about the exclusion Gryzlov of the security Council was published on 12 April. A week ago, the President signed a decree on Zolotova.

Gryzlov was a permanent member of the security Council since 2011. At the end of 2015, he was appointed Plenipotentiary representative of Russia in the Contact group on settling the situation in Donbass. As previously said a source in the presidential administration, Gryzlov was appointed as a political heavyweight in a couple of ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, who represents Kiev at the talks.

In the years 2003-2011 Gryzlov served as speaker of the state Duma, he also heads the Supreme Council of “United Russia”. He was the only permanent member of the security Council, which did not have a high leading position. Earlier, a source in United Russia said that after stepping down as speaker of the state Duma Gryzlov expected that Putin will offer him one of the highest positions in the Executive branch, however this did not happen.
