Poklonskaya has suspended the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars


The Prosecutor of the Crimea Natalia Polonskaya on Wednesday issued a decision to suspend the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars. She stated this to the Agency TASS.

“Today I made the decision to suspend the activities of the public Association “the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people” in order to prevent violations of the Federal law” — leads the Agency of his word.

In its decision of suspending the activity of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars Poklonskaya refers to articles 9 and 10 of the law “On countering extremist activity”.

According to TASS, the decision to suspend the work of Parliament will be valid until the decision of the Supreme court at the suit of the Crimea Poklonski.

On 17 March the Supreme court of the Crimea started to consider the claim of the public Prosecutor about the ban in Russia of the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars. In its lawsuit, the Prosecutor of the Crimea requests to declare Majlis the extremist organization, which refers to the responsibilities of public and religious associations for the implementation of extremist activities, including conducting energy and economic blockade of the Peninsula.

Now the claim of the Prosecutor’s office of Crimea is under consideration. Protection of Majlis of the claim of the Prosecutor’s office deems improper. In particular, at the meeting of the trial lawyers organization insisted that the Majlis cannot be held responsible for the actions of its members.

The decision of the Prosecutor’s office of Crimea sent to the Ministry of justice of Russia to include it in the overall list of public and religious associations which activity is suspended on the territory of Russia, TASS notes.
