The Kremlin has commented on reports of an American “plan B” on Syria

Answering the journalists ‘ question about whether Russia is prepared USA in case of failure of truce in Syria “plan B”, press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that “the Russian side has one plan”.

“The Russian side has one serial plan — do everything to facilitate a peaceful settlement of the Syrian problem and consistently conduct business in line with the fight against terrorism, and promote this legitimate Syrian authorities,” Peskov said (quoted by “Interfax”).

He stressed that the settlement process in Syria needs to be “inclusive”, i.e. “to include all confessional and national groups in Syria.” Peskov stressed that this is the Russian plan on Syria.

“Now with the sub here, perhaps, we cannot comment on the statements of our American colleagues,” — said Peskov.

The U.S. edition of the Wall Street Journal reported on the preparation by the Pentagon and CIA new plan in case of failure of truce in Syria. According to the newspaper, the heads of these agencies do not believe that Russia will respect the ceasefire in Syria, and try to persuade the Bush administration to increase pressure on Moscow.

In particular, it is proposed to support the intelligence of the Syrian rebels, this will allow them to better defend themselves against Russian airstrikes. In addition, the White house is considering the introduction of new economic sanctions against Moscow.
