Attack helicopter Mi-28N crashed in Syria because of an error of piloting, reported TASS citing a source in the headquarters of the Military space forces of Russia.
“According to preliminary conclusions of the Commission, the reason of accident of Mi-28N in Syria was the human factor”, — said the Agency interlocutor.
The day before as possible causes of the crash, the Interfax source in the defence industry are unfavorable weather conditions. The caller said that the helicopter was flying over maleoriented terrain in almost complete darkness, and the pilots were on night vision goggles.
However the interlocutor has not excluded that on the route the helicopter could encounter an obstacle. At the same time the source noted that there are other versions of the crash.
Mi-28N crashed in the area of HOMS April 12 — it crashed at 1:29 GMT. The pilots, whose names the Ministry of defence did not name, were killed. With this, the defense Ministry noted that the fire exposure on the helicopter was not. The aircraft was assigned to the air base in Budennovsk in the Stavropol Krai.
On the eve of the publication of “Small.” reported that on Board the helicopter were the local graduates of higher military aviation school of pilots — commander Andrew Okladnikov and Navigator Viktor Pankov.
After the death of the crew Mi-28N the official number of Russian casualties in Syria has reached eight. Earlier during the military operation killed the pilot of the downed Turkey su-24 Oleg Peshkov, and the party’s subsequent search operations marine Alexander Pozynich. Three Russians — a military adviser Ivan Cheremisin, Fedor Zhuravlev, and Alexander Prokhorenko were killed in ground operations.
