Lavrov said Russia’s unwillingness to get involved in a confrontation with NATO

Russia will not allow NATO to be drawn into a pointless confrontation. This was stated by Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov, speaking at the foreign Ministry of Mongolia, reports “RIA Novosti”.

“We are seeing unprecedented since the end of the cold war buildup of military activity, NATO’s presence in the so-called Eastern flank of the Alliance for the purpose of rendering military and political pressure on Russia to deter,” he said.

According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, NATO’s actions are accompanied by “aggressive propaganda campaign to demonize Russia.” Lavrov said that the Alliance “is seeking the enemy to give meaning to its continued existence”. However, according to him, “Russia does not intend and will not get involved in senseless confrontation.”

The Minister noted that Moscow does not see a reasonable alternative to the “mutually beneficial pan-European cooperation in the field of security based on the principle of the indivisibility of security based on international law”.
