The Russian government decided to support the bill on criminal liability of governors for excessive spending on self-promotion and proposes to extend the same punishment to the heads of local governments. About it writes on Tuesday the newspaper “Vedomosti” with reference to the draft review of the Cabinet of Ministers on the bill.
According to the publication, officially the withdrawal must be approved on Thursday. On Monday preliminarily approved at the meeting of the government Commission on legislative activities, the newspaper said.
The newspaper reminds that the authors of the bill acted as the co-chair of the Central staff of the Russian popular front (onf) Olga Timofeeva (United Russia), Mikhail Degtyaryov (LDPR), Alexander Yushchenko (CPRF) and Alexander Burkov of a just Russia.
The document, in particular, suggests to punish officials for excessive and over 1.5 million roubles — the costs of informing the public about its activities by fines up to 500 thousand rubles or imprisonment for up to five years.
