The increase in net retail sales of X5 Retail Group retailer in the first quarter of 2016 compared with last year’s period amounted to 26.7%, according to the company. Revenue for the first quarter amounted 230,6 billion rubles, last year during the same period, X5 Retail Group reported revenues of 182 billion rubles, thus, the company’s revenue growth in absolute numbers amounted to 48.6 billion rubles.
X5 Retail Group ranked second in terms of revenue among the Russian retailers. Leading in the ranking of “Magnet” for the first quarter showed revenue growth in 16,59%. According to previously published data of the company, its net retail revenues amounted to USD 254.4 billion rubles In the previous year the figure was 218,2 billion rubles (an increase of 36.2 billion rubles).
Thus, X5 Retail Group bypassed the “Magnet” and the revenue growth (26.7% and 16,59%), and in terms of growth in absolute terms (RUR 48.6 billion and 36.2 billion rubles).
As noted in the report of X5 Retail Group, the company has shown positive results in each month of the first quarter, mainly due to the strong performance of the trade network “Pyaterochka” and a substantial increase in traffic in the trade network “Crossroads”.
The main contribution to the increase in net retail sales of X5 Retail Group in the first quarter made the trade network “Pyaterochka”. The increase in net retail sales network was 32.3% compared to the same period last year. The growth of retail space to the retailer was chiefly due to the opening of shops “Pyaterochka” — about 92% of new space X5 Retail Group for the first quarter were in this trade network.
The growth rate of net retail revenue of a trading network “the Crossroads” also increased with each passing month in the first quarter from 15.7% in January to 20.6% in March.
