As told the Lebanese TV channel “al-Mayadin” security Minister of Iran Mahmud Alawi, Iran has invited Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to carry in the Islamic Republic his family. With this proposal, according to Alawi, Assad addressed the commander of the unit “Quds” (the Islamic revolutionary guard Corps) General Qassem Soleimani.
Soleimani explained his proposal by the fact that Assad will be easier to “continue the struggle”. However, the Syrian leader, according to the Minister of security of Iran, said that his family, like other Syrian families will stay in Damascus.
Alawi, in his interview to the Lebanese TV channel also stressed that Tehran continues to defend its allies, and the allies of Iran “stronger than ever, and every day closer to victory”.
The Syrian government statement Alawi about the Assad move his family in Iran has not yet commented on.
Earlier, in late March, pan-Arab newspaper “al Hayat”, citing its own diplomatic sources reported that Russia and the US reached an agreement on the future political process in Syria. These agreements, according to the publication, included the resignation of Assad and his “moving to another country”. The source, “al-Hayat” claimed U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry briefed the Arab leaders.
On the same day the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Russia no one is discussing the fate of Assad. “Favorable difference of the Russian side from other countries is that Russia has no diplomatic or other channels does not discuss issues of self-determination of third countries”, — said Peskov. On 1 April the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said that the US deliberately passed into media disinformation about the talks with Russia on Syria, including the fate of Bashar al-Assad.
