As reports Reuters with reference to the representative of the Panamanian Prosecutor Javier Caraballo, investigators searched the building owned by Mossack Fonseca. In particular, they discovered bags of destroyed in the shredder documents. Their content is still unknown, however the investigation suggests that paper can be viewed as evidence of illegal activities of the law firm.
Earlier, representatives of Mossack Fonseca claimed that their activities of offshore companies was perfectly legal. There categorically denied assumptions about the destruction of incriminating documents.
The scandal around the Panama company started on 3 April. On this day the international consortium of investigative journalists has published the results of a global investigation on offshore companies are world leaders, businessmen, sports stars and show business. A result of the publication of papers was a number of loud resignations. In particular, left their posts, Prime Minister of Iceland Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson, Minister of industry and tourism of Spain, josé Manuel Soria, and the head of the compulsory enforcement service of judicial acts of Armenia Mikhail Pogosyan.
On 20 April the British newspaper The Guardian reported that the investigation into possible violations of the law beginning the U.S. Department of justice.
Previously a special Commission to investigate the offshore scandal agreed to establish the European Commission. Its mandate will be determined on may 4, the conference President of the European Parliament.
