Baku and Yerevan reported on the fighting in Karabakh with tanks and howitzers


The parties to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh reported armed clashes with the use of not only small arms but also heavy artillery and tanks.

According to the report the Azerbaijani defense Ministry, during night battles the opposing party to use tanks. “Armenian night tanks approached the positions of Azerbaijani army and began to fire at them. With additional manpower, the Armenian side tried to go on the attack. However, the Azerbaijani armed forces prevented the attempt, destroying one enemy tank with the staff. After that, the Armenian side was forced to step aside Agder”, — stated in the message (quoted by “Interfax”).

It was said that in the evening on April 23 the Armenian side bombarded Azeri settlements located along the line of contact. The enemy used artillery, grenade launchers and mortars. “The Azerbaijani armed forces suffered no losses and completely control the situation and movement of enemy”, — stated in the Azerbaijani military.

The defense Ministry of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) reported that in the night of Sunday, the Azerbaijani armed forces in addition to the various types of small arms used 60 and 82 mm mortars, 122-millimeter howitzer D-30 and missile system volley fire TR-107.

“The enemy has chosen as a target not only military positions of the Karabakh army, but the village Madaghis. One of the shells fired from howitzers D-30, fell on the territory of the village. Luckily there were no casualties. The frontline units of the defense army took action to contain the enemy and stabilize the situation”, — noted in press service.

The Armenian defense Ministry said that the Azerbaijani military violated the ceasefire on the state border with Armenia 18 times. The Azerbaijani side, said the Agency “Interfax”, was indiscriminately shooting from various small arms and sniper weapons.

The aggravation in the conflict zone in Nagorno-Karabakh, grew into large-scale fighting occurred on the night of 2 April. The parties have accused each other for the outbreak of hostilities, and was also told about the hundreds and thousands killed by the enemy. On the fourth day of the fighting the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides agreed to a ceasefire.
