Turkish politician Ahmet Davutoglu said he will resign from the post of leader of the ruling AK Party and Prime Minister, reports the Financial Times. He stated this at a press conference in the headquarters of the party. Davutoglu said that he would not seek re-election at the extraordinary Congress of the ruling party.
“After consultation with the President, I came to the conclusion that the change of the party leader and Prime Minister will be for the better”, — quotes the statement, ” The New York Times. He stressed that a change of leadership “should be held in a peaceful manner, to preserve the unity of the party”.
