The Ukrainian government has increased the tariffs for heat for 75-90%

The national Commission of regulation of energy and utilities of Ukraine (NKREKU) on average 75-90% increased the rate for heat energy and Central heating. This decision was taken at a meeting on Thursday, transfer “Ukrainian news”.

“The lion’s share of the adjustment (about 90%) is linked to the Cabinet decision on gas price”, — explained the Chairman of the Commission Dmitry Vovk. Among other factors he called the salary review in line with the new level of the minimum wage and the level of the single social contribution, as well as changes in electricity tariffs.

It is expected that tariffs will be increased from 1 July. Vovk noted that the Commission is considering measures that will allow in the future to reduce tariffs.

“The Commission is working to replace heat from natural gas heat from coal where possible — among such cities: Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Kalush. Short-term measures “jointing” bottlenecks in the generation and transfer of thermal energy from coal will reduce the weighted average price for these cities,” — he explained.

On 27 April the Ukrainian government established a uniform price for gas in the amount of 6,879 thousand hryvnias for 1 thousand cubic meters, cancelling preferential social norm for the heating season. Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman promised that it “will be the last change in gas prices in the life” of the state. Earlier for bringing tariffs in line with market realities expressed by the international monetary Fund (IMF).

As reported “UKRINFORM”, the growth of prices for gas for population and enterprises will increase prices for heating and hot water by almost 80%. In Kiev promised to protect the growth rates of low-income segments of the population, which include almost 6 million Ukrainians through the provision of subsidies.

Some Ukrainian politicians criticized the decision of Kiev on gas criticism. “The new Prime Minister [Vladimir] Groisman at a meeting of the government drastically raised gas prices, <…> which goes directly to the needs of people on gas burners, speakers, and the gas that is used for heating homes and is used by the system Teplokommunenergo. Such rudeness, as happened today at the government meeting, in relation to the people did not allow even Arseniy Yatsenyuk,” — said the leader of “Batkivshchyna” Yulia Tymoshenko.
