The Kremlin has asked not to wave the sword about “Eurovision”

The President’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the selection rules for “Eurovision” the same for all countries, and Kiev will have to take this into account during the organization of the competition. Eurovision is an international contest and the receiving party must follow the rules of “Eurovision”, — said Peskov. “All the rest is their competence”, — said the spokesman.

So Sands responded to the question about the attitude of the Kremlin made to Kiev allegations that Russian artists will not be able to participate in the contest “Evrovidenie” in Ukraine next year if they are going to speak in support of the annexation of Crimea and events in Donbas.

“Wait to swing a sword!” — said press Secretary of the head of state, responding to a question about whether Russia to opt out of participation in the competition on the territory of Ukraine.

The final of “Eurovision”-2016 was held in Stockholm on 15 may, the victory was won by the representative of the Ukrainian singer Jamala. She sang the song “1944” about the deportation of Crimean Tatars. Sergey Lazarev, representing Russia, took third place. Jamala’s victory means that next year the competition will take place in Ukraine.

After the victory of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada Deputy Anton Gerashchenko said that the competition will be able to accept only those Russian artists who “understand that the annexation of Crimea and occupation of part of Donbass is a crime”. “If at the Eurovision song contest in Ukraine, the Russian people will elect a singer or a singer who did not speak out in support of the aggressive policy of Russia, do not offend the national dignity of Ukraine, I do not see any obstacles to this”, — he said.

Crimea became part of Russia in March 2014. This happened after a referendum in which more than 90% of Crimeans voted for secession from Ukraine and joining Russia. Kiev and the West did not recognize results of the referendum.

In December 2015 the Ministry of culture of Ukraine has published the “black list” of culture, which “threaten the national security of the country”. It was based on data compiled by the Ukrainian security services. In it, in particular, entered Sergey Bezrukov, Evelina Bledans, Mikhail Boyarsky, Oleg Gazmanov, Valentin Gaft, Gerard Depardieu, Vasily Lanovoy, Ivan Okhlobystin, Mikhail Porechenkov, Mikhail Rastorguev and others.
