At the end of April Skobelkin said that the largest Russian banks in December of last year received from the Central Bank instructions to reduce the amount of doubtful operations, and one of them was fined for breach of legislation on counteraction of legalization of incomes, received by criminal way, and terrorism financing, for a large sum.

Later Skobelkin has explained to journalists that comparable amount of the fine imposed on BNP Paribas by the us authorities, and the “principles and approaches”. He also said that the Bank received from the Central Bank demands to be paid but not yet paid the fine.
Later, the Agency TASS citing a source in banking circles said that the penalty received by the Bank, which is not among the top three Russian credit institutions. The three largest Russian banks in terms of assets includes Sberbank, VTB and Gazprombank.
