Societe Generale denied the closure of the accounts of Russian diplomats

Banking group Societe Generale has denied the information on closing of accounts of Russian diplomats in Paris. About it reports “Interfax” with reference to the statement of Societe Generale.

“We serve our customers in France and the steps taken in terms of closing the accounts. This [account closure] is one of a purely private, isolated incident, not connected with diplomatic staff”, — quotes Agency the statement of the Bank.

The Bank also said that other comments on the situation with specific customers will not.

On Friday the source of “RIA Novosti” in the diplomatic circles reported that Societe Generale closes accounts of Russian diplomats in Paris. According to him, measures have concerned including diplomats working at UNESCO.

“While the deputies of the National Assembly and the Senate of France voted for the lifting of sanctions against Russia, the French Bank Societe Generale, apparently fearing actions from the U.S., closes the account not just Russian citizens, but Russian diplomats”, — said the source Agency. This week, June 8, the French Senate adopted a resolution calling for the government to begin a gradual easing of sanctions against Russia.

The official representative of the foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing that the Ministry will check the information on the closing of diplomats.
