Russia has made a submission to the United States in the WTO

The Russian side expressed its dissatisfaction and has made a submission to the United States under the world trade organization (WTO) due to new regulations on the import of fish products in the United States, reports “RIA Novosti” with reference to the statement of the representative of Rosrybolovstvo in the USA Oleg Rykov.

“The WTO, we brought this information to the Ministry of economic development. The Russian delegation was at the last meeting of the organization. They did the first performance of the American delegation. Those asked to submit our concerns in writing,” — said Rykov Agency.

He said that we are talking about the rules adopted by U.S. President Barack Obama in 2014 and directed against the world of illegal catch of seafood. Rykov stressed that, according to these regulations, each supplier must provide an incredible amount of information — from the moment of catch to the importation into the United States.”

“And if some papers do not prove, that they can prohibit the importation. It is simply barrier,” — he said, adding that since may, when he began a public discussion of the new rules, “we worked through the Embassy, appealed, wrote a statement at the state Department. On Tuesday there was a meeting in the office of the trade representative, but so far no objective explanation we still have not received.”

Previously, the Agency “Interfax” citing a source in the financial-economic bloc of the Russian government reported that the Kremlin had recommended that the government actively use the tools of the WTO to eliminate “discriminatory measures” by the US against Russian products. The order was sent to the Department concerned.
