The chief of the General staff of the Russian Armed forces army General Valery Gerasimov told reporters on Monday that Russia fulfills its commitment to ensuring ceasefire and reconciliation in Syria, but patience to the situation in Russia ends.
“Patience in relation to the situation in Syria ends, we, not the Americans. We are their obligations and agreements to ensure a ceasefire and national reconciliation in Syria executed completely” — said Gerasimov (quoted by “Interfax”).
Last week on ending patience in regard to the Syrian conflict said the U.S. state Department. U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry said that Washington’s patience regarding the situation in Syria is “not infinite.” “In fact, now it is very limited in relation to whether [Syrian President Bashar] Assad accountable,” the state Department cited the words of Kerry.
Later official PREDSTAVITEL of the Department John Kirby said that the words of the Secretary of state was not a threat, and Kerry was simply expressing his frustration with the unfolding of seroice in Syria.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov later advised Kerry to be more patient, and reminded that the administration of US President pursues a policy of strategic patience.
According to the chief of staff General Gerasimov, the terrorists in Syria has reduced its forces, and the situation is once again heating up.
“We are already within three months addressed to the Americans the coordinates of the objects of the IG (“Islamic state” and “Dzhebhat EN-Nusra” (both groups are recognized in Russia as a terrorist and banned), and our American partners so far and cannot decide: where they have opposition, where’s the werewolf of international terrorist organizations”, — said Gerasimov on Monday.
The Syrian opposition, which is supported by the United States, requires the establishment of a transitional government without the participation of the incumbent President Bashar al-Assad and his supporters, and the resignation of Assad from his post.
In April, in Syria held parliamentary elections, which the ruling party “Baas” got almost 80% of the seats, but the “external” opposition (the Union of the various opposition groups established the Syrian dissidents in other countries), a number of groups of internal Syrian opposition, the Syrian Kurds, USA, UK, France and Germany declared a boycott of the elections.
According to the results held in April Geneva talks, the parties have determined that a new transitional government will consist of members of the current government and the opposition, but representatives of the “external” opposition left the negotiations even before they are completed.
As was stated by the U.S. state Department spokesman mark Toner, Washington somnevaetsya that the opposition will return to negotiations, but hoped that a political settlement in Syria can be initiated on 1 August.
