Russian athletes that do not violate anti-doping rules, as well as representatives of all-Russian athletics Federation (vfla) will appeal to the court of arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne. This was stated by the head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Alexander Zhukov at the summit of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Tuesday.
According to him, the Russian Olympic Committee supports these requests and will also challenge the decisions of the IAAF Council. “We hope that the court of arbitration for Sport takes an objective, just and legal decision, despite the already announced position of its President”, — quoted Zhukov, a press-service OKR.
Earlier Tuesday, the IOC summit in Lausanne supported and endorsed the decision of the IAAF to uphold the disqualification of Russian athletes to allow them to participate in international competitions, including the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro.
As stated by the head of the IOC Thomas Bach, those Russian athletes, who will be able to prove in court of arbitration for Sport his innocence to doping, will be able to compete at the Olympic games in 2016 under the flag of Russia, instead of under neutral or Olympic flag.
