Putin signed the law on the national guard of Russia


The President of Russia Vladimir Putin has signed the law “On troops of the national guard of the Russian Federation”. Relevant document posted by on the official Internet portal of legal information.

According to the law troops of the national guard — state military organization, whose mission is to ensure state and public security, protection of rights and freedoms.

Troops will participate in the protection of public order, important public facilities, special cargoes, structures on communications and to ensure public safety. They will also take part in the fight against terrorism and extremism and to provide modes of emergency or martial law.

5 April, Putin announced the creation of the national guard, which will become the new Executive authority engaged in the fight against terrorism and organized crime.

On 29 June, the Federation Council approved a package of laws establishing a national guard, which will replace the internal troops of the interior Ministry. The following day Putin appointed Lieutenant-General Oleg Borukaev and Lieutenant-General Sergei Erygina Deputy commander of the national guard.
